All original music. Flavored in the vain of
Beautiful Day, Jethro Tull and Jefferson Airplane. This band
was different from any band I played with because Faith felt
like family. Mark & Karen Place invited me out to their
farm. Mark played an old upright piano. Karen played
tambourine and maracas. I set up my drums, in a small room
and just the three of us commenced to play some real down to
earth, bad ass music. I had jammed with John Schrio, who
could lay down a pretty heavy bass lick and invited him to
out jam. I also brought Kim Stutzel, who was a kick ass
guitar player out to jam with us. John Cambridge (cheeks),
an excellent lead player I knew, introduced Mark Glass,
another excellent guitar player to us. He soon replaced Kim
as Kim had other business to attend. We mulled things around
for awhile in the barn that spring and laid down some real
good tracks.. We played all around and did some pretty
interesting gigs. One of the heaviest was Moon Valley, 18
hrs of music, out doors, fresh air and plenty of land. It
was a very large stage. Faith Enterprises which Randal
Burdick & I owned, sponsored the Sound and lighting and it
was also a speaker rebuilding business. A lot of things
happened around Faith Enterprises. Dean Carl was a promoter
for a concert in Hub City, Wisc. The entertainment consisted
of MAD DANCERS, PIPER ROAD SPRING BAND, FAITH, CHEAP TRICK,
The Illinois Road Band and various others bands. The second
day into the concert, I was running the mix board and all of
a sudden I noticed smoke coming out off a low end speaker.
We were running, 27,000 watts of Phaze Liner power
amplifiers in a seven integrated system. Hot, clean & very,
very loud. All of a sudden the speaker burst into flames. I
still couldn’t get anyone’s attention, so I jumped off the
sound stage and the people directly in front of me made a
path so I could get through. I climbed up on the stage, and
started beating out the flames with my jean jacket. The
crowd went absolutely wild. What a trip. What a concert.
There was a regular out doors very large party, every few
weeks at a farm down, by Byron, Il. and every local band,
played there at one time or another. It was there that Dean
Carl introduced me to Jeffery Stenson. Little did I know at
that time, a new band that was to last, forever was being
born. Jeff jammed with FAITH for awhile, but had other
business to attend.
